I spent the year from August 1st, 2014 until July 31st, 2015 focusing on the kata Gojushiho. One of the avenues I took to study the kata was to look at of traditions variations of the kata. This helped immensely to process the techniques found in our Matsubayashi version. I also applied the kata to the weapon I currently study to gain possible contribution. I have created a video that presents these different variations on Gojushiho. I present them not as a sign of my competency in them, but for the purpose of comparison.
The variations are:
- Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Gojushiho
- Matsumura Seito Gojushiho
- Shotokan Gojushiho Sho
- Shotokan Gojushiho Dai
- Seirenkai Gojushiho
- Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu Gojushiho
- Shito-Ryu Gojushiho
- Bushi No Te Gojushiho
- Jyoshinmon Gojushiho
- Gojushiho Ni
- Tang Soo Do O Sip Sa Bo
- Kiyan Gojushiho
- Gojushiho as a Tai Chi form
- Gojushiho as a Jian Tai Chi Straight Sword form
- Gojushiho as a Tai Chi Fan form
- Gojushiho as a Double Tai Chi Fan form
- Gojushiho as a bo kata
- Gojushiho as a nunchaku kata
- Gojushiho as a sai kata
